Louder Than Last Year - A Sound Exhibit

An undergraduate art exhibit where the goal of my project was to provide a unique experience for receiving sensory information. After implanting a 45mm Bone Conducting Transducer inside of a baseball bat, and applying amplification to the digital signal, users pressed the bat against their chin, and were able to hear the digital narrative through vibrations of the inner ear (cochlea).

Viewers were encouraged to take the bat and move around a fictionalized landscape.  I had geolocated audio files around the Mandeville lawn, which required the users to explore the landscape in order to hear the next part of the narrative. The intention was to give the viewer a unique perceptual experience of listening through intense vibrations of the skull, while experiencing location and space as audio triggers (memories).
